Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Roode
Result: Braun Strowman defeated Bobby Roode via pinfall
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Before the match, Roode talks to Renee Young about, well, let’s just say Roode is excited for Money in the Bank, but is a bit worried about Strowman.
Perhaps as a sign of things to come, Roode definitely played the heel in this one. If he does turn heel in the near future, though, as many think he should, hopefully it’s not the type he played in this match. He was the Wile E. Coyote kind of bad guy here, rigging Acme gear up and hoping for the best. And much like Wile E., nothing went right for Roode.
But who cares, because a) Bobby Roode literally thumbed his nose at Braun freaking Strowman, b) Roode really thought a ladder would be an insurmountable barricade, and c) BRAUN STROWMAN SNAPPED A LADDER IN TWAIN WITH HIS BARE HANDS.
Yes, it’s another in the long line of examples of Braun showing superhuman strength. From crushing an apple to flipping an ambulance, from destroying a production truck to grappling hook, Braun never ceases to amaze. He’s unreal, and somehow he keeps finding ways to top himself.
Backstage, Kevin Owens was watching, but he refuses to share his thoughts with Charly Caruso. After mocking the whole “Too Sweet” gesture, he does say that he’s going to prove Finn Balor is nothing more than an Irish myth later on this episode.
