Tag Team Battle Royal
Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. The Revival vs. The Ascension vs. Breezango vs. Titus Worldwide vs. The B-Team vs. Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre
Result: The B-Team won by last eliminated Heath Slater & Rhyno
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Quick question about Drew McIntyre: Does Randy Orton know that Drew is basically doing his corner pose? The Viper doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would take too kindly to that.
The beginning of this battle royal was a disaster. I don’t know if there was miscommunication somewhere, but Jojo announcing the match as it kind of started was ridiculous. It looked bush league — even the worst indies don’t do things like that. Ziggler and McIntyre waiting on the apron for a few seconds would have made sense if they would have waited longer before entering the fray.
The constant “DOLPH IS ALMOST ELIMINATED” spots in the first 90 seconds of the match were annoying, too. Granted, it made the eventual “surprise” elimination mean something when Dolph finally went out, but it was way too much. I really thought the post-elimination assault would somehow result in them “eliminating” all the other teams. But truthfully, Dolph and Drew going out early was the only move, because they absolutely do not need a Tag Team Championship match at this stage.
The rules for this one were dumb. Eliminate one half of a team, and their partner just has to stop what they’re doing and leave? No — this match should have been such that both members of a team needed to be eliminated, which opens the door for one superstar to overcome the odds after his partner is eliminated.
In the end, the only team that could have possibly won this match did win it. And the scoop slam/accidentally hit your partner spot that ended the match was really the only way the last elimination could occur. Watching Dallas and Axel just fall into success (in a kayfabe sense) is awesome.
