5 Independent Wrestlers We Would Love to See One Day Join WWE

3. Jeff Cobb
Speaking of Lucha Underground stars, Jeff Cobb is the man behind the Matanza Cueto gimmick. And if you’ve ever watched LU, you know that Matanza is a beast. But to really know just what Cobb could bring to WWE, you have to look at his work without the mask under his real name.
Cobb is a former Olympian, representing Guam on their wrestling team in 2004. He began his pro wrestling career in 2009 in his native Hawaii, and eventually made his way to the mainland. Besides LU, Cobb has worked for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, EVOLVE, and Progress.
Cobb’s amateur background has shaped his professional style. And his raw power makes his Tour of the Islands finisher possible to hit on just about anyone. Imagine the notion of Cobb going up against Brock Lesnar, and the two just throwing each other around the ring for ten minutes.
Possibly the only thing that would hinder Cobb heading to WWE? His height. Despite his sheer strength and linebacker build, Cobb is a mere 5’10. If he were on 205 Live, that wouldn’t be a problem. But at 263 pounds, Cobb would have to cut a bunch of weight to make the cruiserweight show. He’d likely be booked much the same way Tazz was in the late early 2000s — initially a serious threat, but eventually just another guy.
