Shisuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles (c) Last Man Standing WWE Championship Match

There are two big points I need to make about this match; It MUST be the main event of this show and it MUST have a decisive winner. As long as it follows those two rules, I’ll be happy with whatever the result is.

The story line going into this since Nakamura turned heel after attacking AJ at WrestleMania has been that Styles is the hot headed, prideful baby face, while Shinsuke is the cool, calm and collected heel looking to make AJ pay for a mistake he may make when his emotions get the better of him. That is something that should play into this match very much.

I look for the bulk of this match to be a real slug fest. Lots of strike exchanges, hopefully even similar to the match they had in NJPW. For the finish, I was trying to think of a way to have the story that has been told to this point play into it. What I came up with is to have Styles hit the phenomenal forearm, having Nakamura down for the count. Midway through the count though, Styles decides to hurt Nakamura even further, thinking emotionally instead of trying to win the match. AJ Attempts to hit Nakamura with a chair shot, but instead ends up receiving a low blow, followed by a kinshasa, putting him down for the 10 count.

With that, Nakamura wins his first WWE Championship to end the show. Personally I feel like there is much more to gain in having Nakamura as champion right now. AJ has had two very good runs with the WWE Title over the last couple years, and I don’t think this loss hurts him too much. Nakamura needs a win here, otherwise one of my next article titles could be “What Next for Shinsuke Nakamura?” Give Nakamura a chance with the title, and I believe he can rise to the occasion.
