WWE Money In The Bank 2018: What’s Next For Roman Reigns?
By Tom Thomas
After being pinned with boos from all around in the second consecutive WWE PPV match, what lies ahead for Roman Reigns?
For years, the WWE has been doing everything at its disposal to get Roman Reigns over with the fans. He has occasionally won over the vocal fan base but hasn’t yet managed to get them over to his side for good. One can hardly criticize Reigns for this as the man has done everything and more within the ring. He has added more moves and has been delivering good match. Reigns also upped his promo game in recent times.
Regardless, its creative decisions that has derailed his momentum on more than one occasion. That same creative team, in perhaps a desperate attempts to get the fans to cheer for Reigns had him feud with Jinder Mahal. They were right in the fact that nobody would want to cheer for Mahal over Reigns.
However, Mahal’s methodical offense came with a price. The fans were least interested in the match itself. But creative should have learned their lesson at this point in time. Reigns Vs Samoa Joe at Backlash was a better outing and even that was met with a chorus of boos. If that was the case with Samoa Joe in the ring, imagine what transpired when Jinder Mahal stepped in.
The match was fine for what it was. Arguably, it could have served its purpose on a normal edition of WWE Raw, rather than on a PPV. It essentially achieved nothing of significance. Moreover, the question must be asked; what’s next for Reigns? His feud with Mahal was nothing short of a glorified mid-card feud.
It ended with no sparks and no real bad blood or heat. Roman Reigns hasn’t gained any real momentum. It didn’t give way to any new feuds and quite frankly, it has rid Reigns of any direction, motive or momentum. For second time in a row on a PPV night, the fans paid zero attention what he was doing in the ring.
So where does Reigns go from here? He can’t go back to feuding with Strowman. Reigns has had zero interactions with Bobby Roode to kick-start a program with him. Turning him heel has always been touted as the go-to method to get Reigns over with the fans. But it seems more and more likely that creative is adamant to keep him as a babyface.
However, seeing as how much they have been touting the whole Reigns Vs upper management issues over the past few months, I think we are in for a feud between him and Commissioner Corbin. Corbin is an upgraded version of corporate Kane judging by his work over the past couple of weeks.

If that happens, we will at least get a fresh feud and perhaps something the fans can invest in. However, without cleared stakes, nothing good can come out of it. I would much rather see a frustrated Reigns join hands with the Commissioner and the Constable to ensure he gets a piece of the gold. What are your thoughts?
