Does WWE Owe Enzo Amore an Apology?
Recent reports suggest that Enzo Amore had no prior knowledge to allegations made against him. Does that mean WWE was wrong in firing him?
No, I’m not a giant Enzo Amore fan. I really enjoyed his work with Big Cass and Carmella back in NXT. I was underwhelmed by their call-up to the WWE main roster. Honestly, those two were so over that they deserved a run with the Tag Team Championships. They were selling merchandise with ease, and their catch-phrases quickly became household jokes…and you can’t teach that.
But then, there’s the part where they were both disliked by the entire locker room. Enzo Amore is said to be the very same guy as the ‘Zo we see on television. However, his interview with Stone Cold Steve Austin on Austin’s podcast reveals that maybe he was a lot deeper of a person than originally suspected.

A bit of the backstory
Details of the end of Enzo’s tenure are a little unclear. Most fans know that Enzo Amore was released by the WWE quickly after the company was “blindsided” following rape allegations against the superstar.
The rumor goes that the WWE fired him when Vince McMahon saw him come into the building for RAW 25 wearing a shirt that read “Today is the best day of my life”. That was immediately following the initial explosion on social media, where the allegations and investigation first became public knowledge.
This was viewed to be a cocky move, and ultimately why Enzo was fired. But during his interview with Stone Cold, Enzo says that he was actually in rehearsal with the APA for that very same show. He says during rehearsal, his phone was “blowing up”. Essentially, they had to excuse Enzo to take care of his business. Enzo also states that Vince had to re-write an entire portion of the show where in which he would have been the focus.
This firing ultimately led to a directionless 205 Live, as Enzo was the Cruiserweight Champion at the time. It also had a lot of fans shaking their heads in both confusion and disappointment.
But the investigation has since closed, and Enzo was in the clear after the case was dismissed.
Pro Wrestling Sheet recently posted obtained copies of Enzo’s investigation report. The Phoenix Police Department’s detailed report proved that Enzo had been honest and cooperative from when they first contacted him.
There had been months between the accusations and the alleged sexual misconduct. In that time, Enzo says he was not contacted by the police. He had absolutely no knowledge that he was in hot water. In fact, the police report even says that Enzo found out about the investigation the same time that everyone else did. That means that Enzo could not have let the WWE know that he was in trouble with the law ahead of time.
The supposed story that he had been fired because he hadn’t given the company a head’s up, then, is completely false. Enzo has actually said that he had a great relationship with Vince McMahon. Enzo also admits that he was suspended, but it was supposed to be until the matter was resolved.
But despite all of this information coming to surface, Enzo is still out of a job.
So does WWE owe him an apology for firing him without having all of the information?
Maybe. Of course, we don’t know all sides of the story. It certainly seems like the WWE jumped the gun, throwing him out on the curb quickly. Many people argue that it was the “final nail in the coffin” for the smack-talker, sky walker. A lot of people point out that he’s not well-liked backstage, and the WWE was looking for any reason to get rid of him.

And, of course, there is the thing where his wrestling skills are very average. But regardless, the guy was fantastic on the mic. He did not deserve, in my opinion, to be outright fired. Suspended indefinitely, maybe — at least until the investigation was finished up.
WWE generally does not like to admit they are wrong, so we probably won’t be seeing them extend an olive branch. The likelihood of Enzo Amore wrestling for WWE again before the year is up is practically non-existent.
There have been rumors online that some other wrestling companies are interested in bringing both Enzo and Big Cass together once again. The best-case scenario is Enzo and Cass heading to Impact. Not only would they strive there, but they’d likely get the push they would need from the management. And who knows: WWE may look to re-sign them before too long, just as they did when Matt and Jeff Hardy exploded into greatness.

Sexual assault is no joke.
We don’t know for sure if the allegations against Enzo Amore were false or not — a case being dismissed means nothing as far as guilt or innocence, it just means the case will no longer be investigated. Just because this case didn’t proceed further shouldn’t discourage victims of sexual assault from coming forward. If you or someone you know has been assaulted, there are some really great services out there, like RAINN and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC).
