Flip Gordon to Challenge Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Championship

Flip Gordon has received another chance to be booked for All In, but in a rather unexpected way.

For months, Flip Gordon has been trying to get booked for All In, including wearing a t-shirt that says, “Book Flip.” He has made appeals to Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson continuously on the Being the Elite YouTube show. He’s also made appeals to Cody, but Cody refused to book him every single time due to hating him.

Cody, meanwhile, was announced to be in an NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match at the show against Nick Aldis. This depended on Aldis’ successfully keeping the title until the show. So far, Aldis has been able to turn away all challengers, but his newest challenger was announced on the NWA Twitter account:

The disgust on Nick Aldis’ face told the whole story: He was not pleased with facing Flip Gordon. Cody was also equally unimpressed with the situation, making his thoughts known via Twitter soon after the announcement.

If Flip succeeds in defeating Aldis for the title, the championship match at All In will feature Cody challenging Flip Gordon for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Flip Gordon will have succeeded in getting booked for All In, even against Cody’s will, and he would also hold one of the oldest and most prestigious titles in wrestling.

Not only would this lead to Flip holding that title, but it’s the same title that Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair have held. The very men that Cody looked up to, and models his career after. Gordon holding that title before Cody does would be a significant blow to Cody’s ego. Speculating about the possibilities of Cody facing Gordon for the title is an interesting one.

Personally,  I think Flip doesn’t win, and he ends up being Burnard the Business Bear. Time will tell, however. Regardless, Cody and the Young Bucks have done a good job building anticipation for their event, and this will be something to watch.
