Daniel Bryan’s current contract with WWE is set to expire September 1st. Many have been speculating about whether he would re-sign with the company or take his immense amount of talent elsewhere. A new report may finally provide some clues about what the future holds for the leader of the Yes Movement.
According to an article by Mike Johnson posted to PWInsider, recent advertisements from WWE seem to point to Daniel Bryan remaining with the company for the foreseeable future. Today, he was announced to be set for appearances at two shows taking place beyond September 1: Smackdown Live on September 4, and a Madison Square Garden live event on December 26.
Even more intriguing: That December MSG show? Not only is Bryan being advertised, but he’s scheduled for a match against The Miz. That could indicate a more long-term plan is in place ready to go should Bryan stick around past the summer.
This news should be extremely encouraging for fans who want Bryan to stay with WWE. However, other fans may be disappointed to know that dream matches with certain non-WWE wrestlers could be off the table. The likelihood of an appearance at All In on September 1 was pretty low to begin with, but now it would officially be a no-go.

Of course, advertisements for cards are never fully set in stone. That’s why all wrestling companies use the phrase “Card Subject to Change” in marketing. It’s possible that progress in contract negotiations has inspired management to feel confident enough to announce Bryan for these shows. Or maybe he’s officially signed a new deal that hasn’t been announced yet. It’s also possible that no progress has been made and WWE has gotten ahead of themselves with these advertisements.
