Impact Wrestling Power Rankings: Is It Madison Rayne’s Time?
4. Madison Rayne
I can’t get enough of Madison Rayne’s winning streak in the Knockouts Division, but the mindgames Su Yung is playing with her have reached another level. Rayne showed so much determination in defeating Blanchard at Under Pressure, and she’s become an important figure in the Knockouts Division when it comes to helping others like Kiera Hogan. But it takes a different level of determination to defeat Yung, who has seemingly become even more powerful after kidnapping Rosemary.
Rayne has defeated Blanchard twice and Taya Valkyrie once, meaning that she’s repeatedly owned some of the best wrestlers that Impact has to offer. In some sense, Rayne should be the favorite, because she is clearly portrayed as the best in-ring competitor in Impact right now.
However, against Yung, there’s no such thing as a fair fight. So is Rayne prepared for the insanity that will ensue at Slammiversary? She knows how to cast her fears aside and stay focused on the goal, but what happens when the Undead Brides show up? Can she overcome insurmountable odds? (Insert Roman Reigns wink.)
3. Brian Cage
Can I just write, “Brian Cage is awesome,” and leave it at that? No. Fine, I’ll add this. Cage has been so dominant and so impressive as an athlete that I am incredibly hyped for his match at Slammiversary against Matt Sydal. Rayne vs. Yung is my favorite feud, and LAX is my favorite angle.
But Cage vs. Sydal is the match that I’m most looking forward to, simply because I can’t wait to see what Cage does in the ring against someone who is on Sydal’s level mentally and physically. This could be a breakout performance from Cage for the people who aren’t quite familiar with his potential or his previous work (such as his brief program with Bobby Lashley).
