3. Tommy Dreamer

Hear me out – Tommy Dreamer doesn’t necessarily need a win as much as I feel like the best direction to go for Eddie Edwards is to give him a loss, and to give him a gruesome, it’s-for-your-own-good loss to someone like Dreamer in a hardcore match.

The excitement surrounding this match doesn’t seem that high, because it’s clearly a trajectory match off of Eddie’s feud with Sami Callihan. That doesn’t make it any less pivotal, however. It’s an important development in the character of Eddie Edwards that shows he went so far over the edge that he turned on his closest ally, not to mention his wife.

It is very hard for me to decide whether or not I think this match will be the conclusion of the Eddie Edwards/Sami Callihan saga, or if it’s only the penultimate match, and we still have another Edwards/Callihan bout left to go. What I think is pretty clear is that regardless, Eddie Edwards needs this loss to clear his head, to get his psyche back in check, and to get us moving along towards the end of this story.

I’m personally hoping this isn’t the end of the Edwards/Callihan feud. I’m hoping that Dreamer can pull out the win that helps Eddie get back in his right mind, and Eddie then gets a chance to vindicate himself against Sami one last time. Sami Callihan is a performer who doesn’t necessarily need wins to be a driving force on the Impact roster, so this feud resolving that way would be ideal for all players.
