3. Let’s Build Su Yung Up

The biggest stars in the Knockouts Division are Rosemary, Madison Rayne, Taya Valkyrie, and Tessa Blanchard in terms of name recognition. Rosemary and Rayne have done this through years of hard work and built-up good-will in Impact, and the same can be said for both Blanchard and Valkyrie, though they are mostly known for work outside Impact (Valkyrie is a different case, but I’ll oversimplify for brevity’s sake).

What Impact does very well in the Knockouts Division is build up new stars, as they gave Allie a really nice run with the Knockouts Championship after she defeated “The Hot Mess” Laurel Van Ness (sorry, I can’t resist writing out the full name…I’m a sucker for rhymes). They’ll need to do this for a heel, too, and there isn’t a better option than Su Yung.

As I said on the first slide, Impact have created a legitimately great character in Yung, whose cast of “Undead Brides” only add to the eeriness. This is her first title defense on television or Pay Per View, and it’s at the biggest show of the year.

While it seems like Rayne should win at a big show since she’s a big name, this is a chance to give Yung a crowning moment and back her 100%. She helped make the future fallout with Rosemary and Allie one of the best storylines of 2018 in any promotion, so why not keep the title on someone who is only improving and who is capable of generating that type of discussion?

Impact has shown that it is all about doing things differently, thinking outside the box, and providing an engaging and edgier product for its fans. Yung fits that to a “T”, and I’d love to see Impact build her and Blanchard into two of their top heels this year.
