The 16 time World Champion has not been seen on WWE TV since WrestleMania 34. WWE has some fresh storyline options for John Cena whenever he is able to return.

John Cena lost to The Undertaker in mere minutes at WrestleMania 34. It was not the instant classic that everyone expected. However, it served as a nice novelty match that reestablished an older Undertaker as The Phenom. In addition, this match showed professionalism by Cena and is an example of maximizing your minutes in pro wrestling.

According to Justin Barasso of SportsIllustrated, Cena was proud of the moment because of quality not quantity. In other words, Cena was not concerned with going over after a 20 minute match. He knew the short time he lasted added to the story being told.

Cena stated “That is a message to any performer who is complaining about their spot or that, creatively, they have nothing going for them. I’ve been first, I’ve been in the middle, I’ve been last. I just want to go out there and do something.” The match was the shortest of the night. Yet, the moment will be memorable forever.

The talent in the locker room should adopt the mindset of doing their best with whatever is given. Reality is that the best performers tend to rise above bad creative. John Cena has been compelling in his role as the legend that has to fight off the new era. Be that as it may, there are still new stories to utilize John Cena in.
