John Cena Becomes Grand Slam Champion

Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler have done great job restoring the Intercontinental Championship as the workhorse championship. Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE television since April. During his absence the Intercontinental Championship has reached even greater heights.

SummerSlam is the second most important event in the WWE. This makes it a worthy stage for John Cena to have a fresh storyline. Cena is closer to the end of his career than the beginning. So it becomes more important to get some never before seen scenarios and matches out of him. One way is for Cena to chase the Intercontinental Championship. This is a storyline that WWE has never entertained.

In fact, it is a major surprise that John Cena has never been a grand slam champion. A guy like The Miz is already a Grand Slam Champion. Albeit great in his own right, he is no John Cena. The Face That Runs the Place is certainly worthy of the honor. Cena has done everything in WWE except win this particular championship.

Dolph Ziggler can soon drop the Intercontinental Championship to Drew McIntyre after a split. This will set the stage for Cena vs McIntyre. These two can provide even more legitimacy to the Intercontinental Championship. That feud is a lot more fresh than Cena versus Ziggler would be.
