WWE Championship: Treat the Title the Way It Deserves

The WWE Championship is the premier title in all of professional wrestling. No matter how rough WWE’s programming might get, the fact still stands that their original world title is the single-most prestigious award in the sport. So why, oh why, is it not even main eventing pay-per-views?

AJ Styles is not only a great champion, but one of the best wrestlers in the entire world. WWE could have gold on their hands with each and every feud he is in, but yet they squander it in favor of a “big non-title match” that almost inevitably contains Roman Reigns and is nearly universally panned.

The mind-boggling fashion in which WWE continues to leave their original world championship so far down the card is infuriating. Not to mention that commentary has remarked that the Universal Championship, a barely-existent title that is only two years old, is now the WWE’s top overall title. In reality, the Universal Title is only seen as more important by WWE themselves because it’s on Raw, which, while the company’s flagship program, is no longer its premier main roster wrestling show.

So please, WWE, get yourself out of this jam. Treat the WWE Championship with the respect and honor that it deserves. This title has so much lineage, so much incredible prestige, and a phenomenal current champion. Make magic with AJ Styles, and as Shania Twain says, “dance with the one that brought you.”
