Being the Elite Creative Process

Josiah MacDonald: So, when you’re reacting on the show, it’s Flip really reacting.

FG: Yeah! Obviously we have storylines, but we don’t script it. A lot of what we do is just improv. It’s really the most fun part of it. We say, “Hey, let’s see what happens.” We have an idea of what we want, and we just try it. Sometimes it ends up being even better than we imagined.

JMD: One of the funnier segments recently was when Marty Scurll thought he accidentally killed you by poisoning you with a Monster Energy drink, and as he was talking to the Bucks, you were actually standing right behind him. How was it working with Marty in those segments?

FG: He’s great! Marty took really good care of me. He obviously forgot I had an early flight, but I did help myself to the bar like he suggested. Japan was so much fun. I got along with everyone very well, made good friends, and got to know guys better that I just bumped into on the road. It was such a great experience and I can’t wait to go back.

Book Flip: Flip’s Journey to All In

JMD: You have had a long campaign to get booked at All In. Cody has continually refused to book you. How do you feel about that?

FG: It has been a very long campaign. I just don’t understand why Cody hates me so much. What did I do to deserve this treatment? What did I do? I just don’t know. All In is the biggest non-WWE show in two decades, and I want to be on that show. The best of the best is going to be there. I’ve worked my ass off, and I think I deserve and belong among the best of the indie guys. I think I belong in the group of the best of people outside WWE.

I think going to Best of the Super Juniors, working with New Japan Pro Wrestling, working with Ring of Honor, and working all around the world shows how hard I work. I think Cody refuses to notice how hard I work. He just has a grudge against me, and I don’t know what it is.
