3. Wrestlemania 34

There’s no denying it: Mania was was a bloated mess. However, it shouldn’t be remembered as a bad show as it gave us three of the best WWE matches of the year, as well as a few feel good moments.

The Good:

Rollins, Miz, and Balor opened the main show with a fun, fast paced match that featured an innovative finish. The Kingslayer became a grand slam champion by picking up The Intercontinental Championship. Asuka vs Charlotte was also a great, historic match. If it were given five more minutes, I have no doubt that it would’ve entered all-time great territory. Finally, Ronda Rousey had arguably the greatest in-ring debut in the history of professional wrestling.

Other than these three matches, Daniel Bryan’s in-ring return was wonderful for obvious reasons, and the Cena/Taker angle was a weird good time.

The Meh:

Both of the pre show battle royals were somewhat enjoyable, Bliss vs Jax and the US Championship fatal four way were both harmless, and Cedric Alexander vs Mustafa Ali and AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura were both solid, but underwhelming matches. The Nakamura heel turn was shocking and well done, but it was hard to get excited for it after a mediocre match that should’ve been so much better.

Finally, I completely understand why a lot of people absolutely hated it, but the Braun Strowman and Nicolas thing had me smiling the whole time. It’d be wrong for me to call it bad.

The Bad:

The Usos vs The Bludgeon Brothers wasn’t any worse than some of the matches listed above, I just thought it was infuriating to see Jimmy and Jey beaten so quickly at Wrestlemania after the incredible run they had with the straps.

And Lesnar vs Reigns happened. I don’t even need to explain myself with that.

In conclusion… Although WrestleMania 34 was overly long, sometimes disappointing, and sometimes ridiculous, it was still loads of fun and an absolute spectacle.
