1. Money In The Bank

I think some questionable decisions from WWE creative on the MITB winners distracted people from the fact that this was an outstanding show, chock-full of great wrestling and memorable moments.

The Good:

The majority of this show was a blast! The men’s Money in the Bank ladder match was solid, with a couple of big, over the top spots, and the women’s match was even better, featuring great action, flow, and storytelling. Additionally, Styles and Rollins both defended their titles in fun matches against Nakamura and Elias, respectively. Finally, Rousey vs Nia delivered further evidence that Ronda is excellent at the wrestling, and set up a perfectly timed cash in for Bliss.

The Meh:

Asuka and Carmella had a pretty decent match, and the return of Ellsworth was executed flawlessly. Both Reigns vs Mahal and Bryan vs Cass exceeded my expectations. Then, The Bludgeon Brother had a short, effective title defense against Anderson & Gallows on the preshow.

The Bad:

It makes a bit more sense now that we know of Zayn’s injuries, but in the moment it was absolutely crushing to see Lashley pin him with one hand. Poor Sami.

In conclusion… Money In The Bank was easily the most consistent, well-rounded PPV of the year up to this point. The ladder matches delivered, as well as most of the other matches on the card. I wouldn’t be surprised if this show still tops my list at the end of the year.
