Impact Wrestling: 5 Reasons You Should Pay Attention To Slammiversary 2018
1. Su Yung Is One Of Wrestling’s Best Characters
While Moose vs. Austin Aries should be an excellent main event, I’m more excited about the Knockouts Championship match between Su Yung and Madison Rayne. Based on what I’ve seen in 2018, few characters in pro wrestling are as interesting or entertaining as Yung’s. The Undead Bride is equal parts eery and powerful, as her mystique has only grown since trapping Rosemary and Allie in caskets.
Yung won the Knockouts Championship off of Allie at Under Pressure, and she hasn’t looked back since. Her match against Rayne at Slammiversary will be her first real title defense and her biggest test yet. Rayne is currently riding an impressive winning streak, which includes two scrappy wins over Tessa Blanchard and a nice W over the tough-as-nails Taya Valkyrie.
Every single video package that involves Yung is must-watch, and that’s not an exaggeration. I really feel like the babyfaces are in danger every time she shows up with her Undead Brides. Yung does a fantastic job of trying to get inside the heads of her opponents, so you really get the sense that Rayne needs the crowd’s help in order to find that something extra to become a six-time Knockouts Champion.
The Knockouts Division has always been a strong point for Impact, and with Yung as the champion, it is the strongest part of this promotion.
