Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

The GOAT vs. The Awesome One! This rivalry is 8 years in the making, for these men have hated each other since day one! The heat began ever since Daniel Bryan was The Miz’s NXT rookie back in 2010. The Miz believed that Bryan had neither charisma nor personality. Take a look at their subtle yet heated encounter in the link from WWE’s YouTube page below:

Bryan just stepped foot into the WWE and he already has a foe. It can be speculated that The Miz was attempting to bring out the best in Daniel Bryan since he is the foe and probably wanted the best for his rookie. However, The Miz is known for looking out for himself, and Bryan saw right through him.

When Bryan got eliminated from NXT, everyone was shocked and thought he was gone for good until he made his surprise return at the biggest event of the summer: SummerSlam. Instead of relying on The Miz for help, captain John Cena handpicked Daniel Bryan to be the last member of Team WWE in their dragon-ball fight with The Nexus. Take a look at his return at SummerSlam 2010 in the link from WWE’s YouTube page below:

This definitely got under The Miz’s skin, considering the fact that he was replaced by his own NXT rookie. Later that night, The Miz even screwed Bryan over and got him eliminated from the match in order to further elevate the tensions between them. Since The Miz was Mr. MITB and U.S. Champ at the time, Bryan stepped up and challenged Miz for the U.S. title. The build up for that match can be found here from WWE’s YouTube page:

It was an intense and invigorating rivalry even at this stage of their careers, and Bryan ended up prevailing when he made The Miz tap out and won the United States Championship, which was the first title he won in the WWE. That historic win at Night of Champions 2010 can be viewed in the link from WWE’s YouTube page below:

The turning point of this long-term feud was when Bryan got severely injured in 2015 and had to officially retire from the WWE in 2016. Since he could not wrestle but still loved the business, he became SmackDown General Manager after the brand split in 2016. Even then, The Miz would not leave his sight as he imploded with outrage every time Bryan insulted him or made fun of his wrestling abilities in the talking smack segments, which can be viewed in the two links from WWE’s YouTube page below:

After all those heated segments and intense matches, these two men have still not gotten tired of feuding with each other. Their hatred for each other had never culminated in any way, shape, or form, and I do not think it ever will. Nonetheless, I foresee them having a match at SummerSlam, in which The Miz will be victorious to obtain retribution for the many times he was embarrassed by Bryan in the past and to prove to him that he is indeed the better wrestler.

Prediction: The Miz
