5 WWE Hot Takes Of The Week: Carmella Really Is Money

1. Carmella Is A Great SD Women’s Champion

The hottest of hot takes is here! Yes, I am incredibly happy with Carmella’s reign as SmackDown Women’s Champion, and I am an even bigger fan now that James Ellsworth is back by her side.

Many complain that Carmella can’t wrestle, hurts the momentum of the talent she faces, and even has “go-away” heat. Well, here I am saying not only are those statements untrue, but she is actually surpassing expectations as champ.

Carmella actually put on great matches with Asuka and Charlotte so far as champion, and she is improving in the ring with each outing. Also, she is bursting with charisma, so it is very easy for her to hide any weaknesses by showcasing her character.

Also, by beating Charlotte twice, she did not hurt her legacy or halt her momentum. Charlotte needed time off, so the loss to Carmella where she hurt her leg gave her a reason to be off TV. As for Asuka, she was incredibly protected in her losses to Carmella by needing surprises, James Ellsworth distractions, and a shark cage to get beaten by Carmella.

So, Asuka and Charlotte will still be strong and credible contenders after their losses to Carmella, and I am positive Becky will be fine if she loses, too (although, I’m really pulling for Becky to win the title at SummerSlam because she is just the best).

As for her “go-away” heat, I have to blatantly disagree. Carmella is a great promo because she is annoying enough for me to hate her but entertaining enough to keep my attention. And now that Ellsworth is thrown into the mix, my eyes are glued to see their interactions and how Ellsworth will get beaten up this time.

And when it comes to in the ring, her constant screaming is a big turn off for people, but how satisfying is it when a babyface pops her right in the face to shut her up? At least for me, it is incredibly satisfying, which makes her a great heel.

Carmella is perfect for the role of champion because she is booked as incredibly undeserving yet gloats as if she is the greatest ever, which is infuriating.

So, when Carmella loses the title (hopefully to Becky), her heel work during this reign combined with the babyface’s popularity should generate a huge pop, and then it will be clear that Carmella has done a terrific job as champ.
