Slammiversary 2018: Ranking Each Match By Expected Quality
7. Tessa Blanchard vs. Allie
This match received arguably the weakest build-up heading into the show, so I’m not sure how much time Tessa Blanchard and Allie will get to put together a show-stealing match. Even if these ladies only get a few minutes to flesh out a basic story, I’m sure they’ll deliver an entertaining contest.
If nothing else, the crowd heat will be there. Allie is a fine wrestler, but character-wise, she has grown into one of the best babyfaces in wrestling. Kudos to her and the Impact Wrestling booking team for identifying her value as a protagonist and maintaining her character development despite several regime changes. I wish WWE would book Bayley half as well as Impact has booked Allie.
Allie’s easy to like personality will it easier for Blanchard to get heat in this match, not that she needed much help. At 22 years old and with only four years as a pro, the third-generation grappler is already one of the best female wrestlers in the world. It’s crazy to think that she’ll get better as she gains more experience.
I think that this is the first match in a long series between these two and with another women’s match on the card, I expect that Blanchard and Allie will put together a basic match at the PPV. They’ll have longer and better matches down the line.
