WWE Raw: Bobby Roode Is On The Verge Of Turning Heel
By Dalton Quix
Bobby Roode is at his best as a heel, and he may be able to take on that role on WWE Raw very soon.
In NXT, Bobby Roode was on fire. He was a stuck up egotistical heel that believed he was the face of the brand and that everyone, including the locker room and fans, owed him for carrying the product.
He was as hated as he was entertaining, and his in ring work brought out the best in his opponents like Shinsuke Nakamura, Hideo Itami, Tye Dillinger, and Drew McIntyre. So, when Roode made his WWE main roster debut on SmackDown Live, there was reason to be hyped for his performance on the main roster.
However, he was introduced to the main roster as a babyface despite never working in that role in NXT. I guess his entrance and music was so over that they decided to roll with Glorious Bobby Roode as a good guy people should cheer.
Sadly, things did not go well for Bob Roode. He had a disappointing feud with Dolph Ziggler but ended up winning the vacant United States Championship. That didn’t help him garner momentum, though, as he had more bland feuds with the likes of Randy Orton and Jinder Mahal.
The Superstar Shake-Up provided the opportunity for change, though, as Bobby Roode got shipped over to Raw. Once again, Roode failed to really captivate the audience as a face as Elias ended up getting cheered over him in their feud, and the crowd was also apathetic towards his role in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
After that, Roode got lost in the shuffle — spending time on Main Event — and didn’t even have a match at Extreme Rules. So, he went out to challenge Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler to a match the next night on Raw. Surprisingly, Roode lost clean as a whistle in the middle of the ring. Ziggler, exhausted from his ironman match, didn’t need Drew McIntyre and din’t need to cheat to pick up a win over Bobby Roode.
This obviously frustrated Bobby Roode and deflated his ego, but Mojo Rawley, who has been on a roll as of late, came by to put Roode down even more by saying he should be ashamed of himself and that he isn’t glorious.

This will likely lead to a match between the two as early as next Raw, and if Bobby Roode picks up another clean loss, he might just snap. Roode lost his feud to Elias, lost at Money in the Bank, and lost to Ziggler, while Mojo has picked up multiple victories over No Way Jose and disposed of Tyler Breeze.
So, it only makes sense that Mojo picks up the win here, but I don’t think Bobby Roode will be able to handle the loss well at all. He can then turn on the fans and good guy tactics and beat someone up out of frustration. Then, he can cheat to break his slump, pick up a win, and solidify a heel turn.
Then, we can finally get the smug, pompous, and Glorious Bobby Roode that was so successful in NXT on the main roster. He can bring his new attitude into new feuds with the likes of Seth Rollins, Finn Bálor, Bobby Lashley, and others.

Bobby Roode may be lost in the shuffle as a face right now, but once he finally turns heel, he should be able to find his place on the roster in the upper mid card or even the main event scene.
