TWISTED SISTERS AND “WHY, BRITT, WHY?”

Twisted Sisters have a quick talking head promo to remind us that they won a match at RISE of the Knockouts and now they’re gunning for the tag team gold. ASCENT viewers are probably at least a little aware of this team, as they’re one of the most popular tag teams in the indies right now, but I’m glad they got a chance to introduce themselves to the audience.

Holidead really gives Shotzi Blackheart a run for her money when it comes to weird promo energy, and Thunder Rosa pivots delightfully between being kind of weirded out by her teammate and being aggressively on board with her madness. I really love this team and I hope they stick around for a while on RISE.

Next we have the Fire and Nice promo video titled “Why, Britt, Why?”. I am delighted that RISE has started dedicating some of their great high-production video content to storylines. Fire and Nice was one of the anchors of the tag team division in RISE, and while they’d suffered some losses recently, Baker betraying Green with a superkick in the ring was a real shocker.

Baker took this opportunity to explain herself. It isn’t a complex story, as it turns out: basically, Baker feels like Green was freeloading off her skills and abilities, and beating Bones of Contention by herself at RISE 8 proved to her that she was better off ending Fire and Nice and forging her own path forward. Of course, there were probably nicer ways to do that than publicly trying to give Chelsea Green a fractured jaw. Although Baker is a dentist, as the promo points out, so maybe that was just an attempt to drum up business?

I look forward to seeing what happens next, especially as Green is yet to respond. This story definitely isn’t done yet.
