RISE – ASCENT Episode Seven Recap : New Phoenix, New Guardians!

TWISTED SISTERS VS PARADISE LOST
The Age of Paradise Lost is upon us. After their win at RISE of the Knockouts, Rosemary’s fearsome stable of Ash and Dust took on the Twisted Sisters in what was probably their most difficult match to date.
As the Sisters entered the ring, the crowd was 100% on their side. The Chicago area shows UP for Thunder Rosa. While it would have been surprising to see Paradise Lost drop the titles so soon after winning them, the Twisted Sisters are such a good team and so over with the crowd it seemed theoretically possible, if unlikely.
It seemed much more likely after the match began. Thunder Rosa and Dust are a great match for each other. They’re both excellent in a mat-based exchange and have similar moves, so they know each other enough to effectively counter anything too devastating. There’s more reversals with these two in the ring than a game of UNO.
Holidead was also a great match for the Paradise Lost team, taking on Ash and pushing her harder than I’ve seen her pushed on ASCENT. She also got to show off her best strongman moves, including her awesome guillotine legdrop and a moment where she flipped Dust around on her shoulders and maneuvered her into a samoan drop. Cesaro would have been jealous.
The Sisters also made the most of their experience and teamwork by cutting the ring in half and focusing their attacks on Dust. It’s a joy to watch them work together. Holidead picking up Thunder Rosa and just dropping her on Dust was a great touch.
As things went on it seemed like it was coming down to Rosa and Dust, with Holidead tagging in for assist as needed. But Ash kept sneaking in and wearing the sisters down- until the sisters tossed Dust out of the ring, then teamed up to knock Ash out. It seemed like we were going to get new champions, but then Rosemary grabbed the ref and pulled him out of the ring. That gave Ash the momentum she needed to make the pin, and the match was over.

The Twisted Sisters may have lost the match, but that’s the first Paradise Lost match I’ve seen where Dust and Ash looked shaken up at the end. Rosemary didn’t look happy either. They may not have won, but Twisted Sisters are the first tag team we’ve seen pose a serious threat to Paradise Lost. Maybe we’ll see a rematch soon?
