2. Bobby Lashley Deserves In On The Universal Championship Match At SummerSlam

The return of Bobby Lashley to the WWE following WrestleMania 34 was expected to shake up Monday nights and add immediate star power.  And so far, so good with that prophecy as Lashley has developed into a main even threat for the red brand.

He has been entangled in a feud with Roman Reigns over the past few weeks and even knocked off The Big Dog at Extreme Rules.  But last night saw the two square off again with much bigger stakes on the line.  The winner of the match would go on to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam.

The two had a stellar match at Extreme Rules, but last night’s match was even better and could be viewed at as one of the best TV matches of the year.  Both men pulled out all the stops and had the other down, but just when it seemed like Lashley had the match won, Reigns turned things around in his favor.

After a big spear, Reigns pinned Lashley to get the win and for the third time this year, Reigns will battle Lesnar for the Universal Championship.  Having Reigns in the match is fine, but it should also include Lashley.  Reigns vs. Lesnar isn’t intriguing anyone these days, so adding a superstar like Lashley would make sense.  And it basically says that Lashley beating Reigns at Extreme Rules meant nothing.

Unless something quirky happens in the coming weeks, Lashley will be left out of the Universal Championship match at SummerSlam after beating the number one contender clean at a pay-per-view.
