WWE SmackDown Live Results And Grades For July 24, 2018
A Limo
The show starts with a limo rolling into the arena, and who else but The Miz comes out? He’s ready for the premier of Miz and Mrs. after tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live, but he hasn’t come alone. Maryse is there! And so is his daughter Monroe Sky, who gets the biggest pop!
Orton Opens The Show
Randy Orton opens the show, presumably to discuss why he attacked Jeff Hardy so viciously last week, costing him a chance to win his United States Championship back from Shinsuke Nakamura. This attack was absolutely gruesome, making everyone in attendance uncomfortable. Orton may be here to give us some answers, or he may be here to play some more games. We shall see.
Why did Orton do this? He said that it’s because of the fans. For 16 years, he’s busted his ass, and every superstar eats at the table he’s set for them. Yet, in his eyes, he doesn’t get the respect from the fans that he deserves. Orton wonders why that’s the case.
He trashes wrestlers who wear face paint, flail their arms, dive, go #TwoSweet, or change their merchandise every month to milk more money. Orton says that the fans are the true “Legend Killers”, but that doesn’t matter. Because he’ll be the one to end Hardy’s career.
Orton doesn’t care about the rest of Hardy’s story as a wrestler; he just cares about writing the final chapter of his career. Wow. He’s even more insane than I thought.
Grade: A-, Great promo. The shots felt like they had layers of reality to them, and #HeelOrton is as cool and evil as we expected.
