3. Becky Lynch vs. Carmella
The SmackDown Women’s Championship has been occupied by Carmella for a little over three months now as she has escaped, by hook or crook, with her title every time. However, a new challenger has risen and she wants a piece of Carmella and a chance to get back to a championship level.
Becky Lynch has been on a roll over the past month or two, gaining a number of consecutive victories on WWE SmackDown and making everybody tap out in the process. Her momentum caught the eye of GM Paige and she announced last week that Lynch would face Carmella last night and if she beat Carmella, she would get a SmackDown Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam.
It was a high stakes match for The Irish Lass Kicker, but she would make the most out of it. The match itself was very impressive and could be argued as one of Carmella’s best matches of the year so far. It did everything it needed to do in the time it was allotted and showed just how dangerous Lynch can be in going after the gold.
She would make Carmella tap out and it will be The Princess Of Staten Island vs. The Irish Lass Kicker at SummerSlam for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. This is an enticing match that finally gives Lynch a chance to really shine after so long of being booked as an afterthought. And with James Ellsworth’s apparent firing last night, this match should be even more difficult for Carmella.
The first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion wants another title reign and if she is able to knock off Carmella again, that hope will come true.
