WWE SmackDown Live: Should R-Truth And Tye Dillinger Team Up?
By Dalton Quix
R-Truth and Tye Dillinger haven’t had luck as singles competitors on WWE SmackDown Live, but maybe things will turn around if they were to form a team.
Since getting called up to WWE SmackDown Live from NXT, Tye Dillinger has found himself in the midcard shuffle with only a couple meaningful feuds. Now, if he has any air time, he is getting squashed or is in a mini backstage segment.
R-Truth has ended up in that same boat since returning from injury. He got moved over to the blue brand as part of the Superstar shakeup but has yet to do anything of relevance since his return to action.
However, in the midst of their misery, Tye Dillinger and R-Truth have found each other. R-Truth’s debut marked the beginning of their relationship on SmackDown Live.
Then, as the two friends were conversing backstage, R Truth tried to help his buddy out by getting him a match with Samoa Joe. Sadly, things did not go Tye’s way in that match, so R Truth looked to avenge his friend’s defeat with a match against Samoa Joe.
Sadly the outcome was the same for R Truth. Both Tye and Truth were brutally victimized by Samoa Joe despite the support they had for one another. Perhaps these two can’t get the job on their own, but maybe if they put their heads together, they could come out victorious.
If Truth and Dillinger continue to get singles losses, they may turn to each other for help. Then, The Perfect Ten and R Truth could come together to form The Perfect Truth. This would be a great addition to the tag team division as there are only a few babyface teams, and there is no direction for Tye or Truth in singles competition right now.
It seemed like Tye Dillinger was up for the idea when Paige announced a Tag Team Tournament. Sadly, they didn’t make the cut.

There are so many directions this team could go. They could be a comedy team that helps to build up heels like SAnitY or The Bar, or they could be a rag tag team of underdogs that do the impossible to win the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships similar to Heath Slater and Rhyno’s quest a couple years ago.
Tye Dillinger won the hearts of crowds down in Full Sail as an underdog, and he could definitely do it again on the main roster. Dillinger is a complete performer that deserves some more screen time, and the 46 year old R-Truth can still go in the ring as evidenced by his match with Samoa Joe.
Then, after this team has run its course after some success (or failure), it could be used as an opportunity to push Tye as a singles competitor as either a face or a heel. Tye could turn on Truth because he feels like Truth is dead weight, or Truth could turn on Tye because the veteran believes Tye is beneath him.
There are so many things these two could be doing on SmackDown Live as a team, and all of these options are better than these talented performers sitting on the sidelines as singles competitors. So, let’s see what The Perfect Truth can do!
