Who Gave Brock a Live Mic?

In the main event of WWE Raw, Kurt Angle and Baron Corbin came to the ring to see if Brock Lesnar would show up in the ring. When Paul Heyman informs them that Lesnar will not be coming down to the ring, Angle goes ballistic. Side note: Baron Corbin’s reactions during the segment were adorable.

It’s painfully obvious what’s going on when you look at every segment throughout the night, and listen to the crowd at the end of the segment. By making Lesnar actively hate Raw, WWE, all authority figures, his own advocate, and the entire WWE Universe, it’s impossible to cheer for the man. WWE is trying to force Brooklyn’s hand for SummerSlam.

But after an F5 to Angle, and Corbin making the cowardly exit perfect for his character, and Lesnar’s quasi-attack on Heyman, the crowd very clearly chanted “We Want Roman.” Don’t come at me with the “We Want Strowman” nonsense, because if that was the chant you wouldn’t have the three dinguses yelling “NO WE DON’T” on top of it.

It’s almost a miracle, even though I don’t think the smarky Brooklyn crowd will go for it. Regardless of how they react to Lesnar, Roman is still an incredibly polarizing figure for some reason. But tonight, Lesnar played his part to perfection, because literally EVERYONE wants him to lose the title immediately.

I mean, one of Brock’s greatest rivals and Brock’s own advocate called him “the worst Universal Champion” of all time! Sure, there’s only been four, but to just blatantly say that on a major television broadcast is a huge gamble. We’ll see how it plays out at SummerSlam.
