Natalya (w/ Ronda Rousey) vs. Alicia Fox (w/ Alicia Fox)

Result: Alicia Fox defeated Natalya via pinfall

Rating: 1.75 out of 5 stars

Okay, lots to unpack even before the match gets underway. A good five minutes is spent on reliving Stephanie McMahon’s historic announcement from last week. If WWE ever wonders why fans react so negatively to Stephanie, this was a pretty good eye-opener. It’s not enough to say, “Hey, remember how we said we’re doing an all-women’s pay per view?”

Instead, it has to be “STEPHANIE MCMAHON, WHO SINGLE-HANDEDLY STARTED THE WOMEN’S REVOLUTION, GRACIOUSLY APPEARED ON RAW LAST WEEK TO CHANGE THE FACE OF WRESTLING FOREVER, AND HERE IT IS AGAIN BECAUSE SHE’S SO IMPORTANT TO OUR WOMEN SUPERSTARS.”

In the wake of revisiting the Evolution announcement, Alexa Bliss taps Alicia Fox to face Natalya since Mickie James suffered an injury. True to form, Foxy responds as only she can — insanely. Bliss is at ringside to even things out, since, as she put it, Rousey is out of detention and in Nattie’s corner. Because they’re obviously besties, like, for real.

The lengthy layoff for Fox hurt this match in a big way. Things were incredibly sloppy, and Fox looked lost at times. Her northern lights suplex is still one of the best in the business, and trapping Natalya in the ring apron was admittedly great. But in general, the match was not good.

Of course, the match was secondary to the aftermath — Fox wins via Bliss interference, and Rousey tries to get revenge. Rousey does get her hands on both Fox and Bliss, but by the end of the segment no one really comes out on top.
