The Rules

Eight teams of five people. A heavyweight wrestler, an X-Division wrestler, a female wrestler, and a tag team. The squads will be broken up into two groups of four. From there, each nation’s representatives from each respective division would compete in 4-way matches. The winning team from each match would earn 3 points, those who didn’t get pinned would take home 1 point, and the loser wouldn’t receive any.

Much like the World Cup, the top two teams from each group would advance. The winner of Group A would be paired up in the next round against the runner-up of Group B, and vice-versa (Group B winner vs. Group A runner-up).

The second round would serve as a callback to the tournament’s origin — the X Division. Who doesn’t love a good Ultimate X match? Since the group stage is overflowing with multi-mans, it’s only natural that the semifinals would be a singles Ultimate X match. Since Don Callis and Scott D’Amore took over, there’ve yet to be any matches featuring that signature stipulation. This tournament would be a perfect place to bring it back!

The later installments of Impact Wrestling’s World Cup tournaments featured a  5-on-5 elimination tag team match, and this would be no different. Whichever team would be left standing at the end would be the world champions!

Alright, so enough about rules and brackets and such, let’s get into the fun part!
