MLW continues to build its brand in professional wrestling
Major League Wrestling has a lot to offer professional wrestling fans of all types.
Now is a fantastic time to be a professional wrestling fan. We are in a day and age in which we can access great wrestling from around the world; beyond what is presented by just the big brands in the industry. One organization to watch is the newly rebranded, Major League Wrestling. Known as MLW, this is a promotion that fans should keep an eye on as it’s becoming an intriguing blend of wrestling styles and storytelling.
MLW in its current iteration is a mix of enjoyment for wrestling fans today and the older generations from the years of the Attitude Era and beyond.
Fans can capture the dynamic, fast paced match styles that are appreciated by the Internet-feud fans today, along with the gradual pacing of intriguing storylines that keep people tuning in week after week. MLW features some of the very top talented competitors across the industry that aren’t locked into long-term deals with the biggest promotions in professional wrestling.
The MLW roster is a good mix of young talent and some names that fans will recognize. For example, Low Ki is the current MLW champion and he picked up that title during an ongoing feud with Shane Strickland. Lucha Underground standouts Pentagon and Rey Fenix are also a part of the roster.
This week, Brian Zachary, the son of wrestling legend Flyin’ Brian Pillman is making his MLW debut going by the name Flyin’ Brian Jr. In fact, he’s a part of a stable that includes Teddy Hart and the British Bulldog’s son, Harry Smith. There are wrestlers that embody nearly every style on the MLW roster and they bring in talent from other organizations to augment their shows.
If you need examples of how MLW is putting together great matches, look no further than the title match between Low Ki and Strickland. In fact, Strickland’s title victory over Matt Riddle earlier this year was one of the brightest moments of his young career. MLW has a number of events that can stand toe to toe with the matches that are seen in the WWE, NJPW or anywhere else.
MLW is available on the television network, Be In Sports but for those that do not have access to that channel the shows are posted on YouTube for free – catering to the need to build an audience beyond those who can catch their shows every Friday. The presentation of MLW feels akin to the ECW Arena of yester-year being that the audience is very close to the ring, creating an intimate setting. With Tony Schiavone on the call, MLW is doing a fantastic job giving fans a show that reminds the current, money generating audience of the wrestling that they remember from their youth.
If you’re looking to supplement your weekly professional wrestling consumption, Major League Wrestling should be a part of your menu. With intriguing characters, well known wrestlers and a presentation welcoming to fans at various stages of interest, MLW is a promotion that is slowly growing and headed on the right track for the rest of 2018.
