Shawn Michaels “Who’s Your Daddy, Montreal?”

With the events of the Montreal Screw Job so many years ago, it was quite predictable that Shawn Michaels would be booed out of the building any time he returned there. From the time Michaels made his way to the ring, this crowd wanted him dead. The impressive part though, is by the end of this promo, this crowd would hate Michaels even more.

Shawn wasted no time playing with this crowd, with the first words out of his mouth being “Who’s your Daddy, Montreal?” Shawn would then continue this with his own rendition of the Canadian National Anthem, which had this crowd getting even hotter at Shawn.

It’s easy to forget that this promo was building up to Shawn Michael’s Summer Slam match with Hulk Hogan, because it was mostly centered around Bret Hart. Michaels would eventually say if Bret had any guts, he’d come down to the ring and face him like a man. Bret Hart of course had not been seen on WWE TV since 1997, which made Michael’s challenge seem quite cowardice.

Michaels then pulled the master troll job, as Bret Hart’s music played. The pop this crowd gave was enormous, but unfortunately, there was no Bret Hart. Shawn was public enemy number one to this crowd from the beginning, and the fact that he took that heat and he somehow made this crowd hate his guts even more is why this promo easily belongs on this list.
