WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights, And Grades For July 31, 2018
The Usos Cut A Promo
Before the break, we see The Usos cutting a promo on Sheamus and Cesaro, as they channel their inner Rock before cutting the “shove it straight up your candy…” routine short because it’s not PG.
Paige Promo on Carmella
Paige says that Carmella was out of line for what she said, and Carmella decides to throw the mother of all insults at the SmackDown Live GM. She says that unlike her, Paige will never get another chance to be a champion. Well, Paige doesn’t play that crap, and she has booked Carmella in a match against Charlotte Flair tonight, and if she loses, the title match at SummerSlam will become a Triple Threat.
That’s why you don’t mess with Paige!
The Usos vs. The Bar
As expected, The New Day will be on commentary for this match after The Usos did their best to help them out from the announcer’s desk last week in their victory over Sanity.
This match was really good, and it hit another gear when Jimmy Uso and Cesaro both tagged in. It’s always a treat watching Jimmy hit his Samoan Drop and his Enziguiri, and we got some fired up offense from The Usos in front of a fired up crowd.
Jimmy nearly stole a win off a roll-up, but a superkick afterwards followed by a Splash from Jey nearly sealed the win. However, Cesaro broke the pin up to save Sheamus, and The New Day threw a tantrum.
With Sheamus prone and Cesaro out of the ring, Jimmy and Jey went for their finisher. However, Cesaro upper-cutted Jey’s attempt at a splash, and that gave Sheamus enough time to block Jimmy’s before hitting a roll-up victory.
And The Bar have advanced to face The New Day.
Grade: B, This was another really good match between these two teams, but they left plenty in the tank for future call-backs. The last couple of minutes were great, with the finish keeping us guessing every step of the way. I can’t wait for The Bar vs. The New Day again as a “Rivalry Renewed” from Raw.
