4. Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk, SummerSlam 2013

Throughout his career, Brock Lesnar has always been respected for his incredible feats of dominant power. But rarely has Lesnar been considered as one of the in-ring greats of all time. While much of what he does inside a wrestling ring is utterly awe-inspiring, he is not renowned for taking part in exceptional matches. Perhaps his greatest in-ring performance in a singles match came against CM Punk at SummerSlam 2013.

At the time, Lesnar was one year into his return and Punk was coming off the back of the greatest period in his career. Punk was just about the hottest commodity in WWE at this stage and Lesnar was being built up as an unstoppable monster. The rivalry was built around the two men both having been mentored by Paul Heyman and was billed as “The Best vs The Beast”.

The match itself was an outstanding back-and-forth spectacle that fully took advantage of the no disqualification stipulation. It was a considerably faster-paced match than most Lesnar bouts and significantly longer too, with the match time coming in at just over 25 minutes. After crushing Punk with an F-5 to a chair, Lesnar won the match. The contest was met with universal acclaim and Dave Meltzer awarded it a four and a half star rating, the highest Lesnar had ever achieved for a singles match.
