ROH: Jeff Cobb Makes His Debut

Ring of Honor gets a lot of criticism for being unable to build homegrown stars, and fans have also knocked the company for not making the most out of new signings. It’s going to be hard to mess things up with Jeff Cobb, who is one of the more exciting talents in professional wrestling.

Cobb made his ROH debut in July at the TV Tapings on July 21 in Atlanta. He figures to have a bright future ahead of him in ROH, as he’s shined in NJPW and Lucha Underground. The man is a former PWG Tag Team Champion and Lucha Underground Champion as Matanza, so he’ll have his eyes set on a title in ROH sooner rather than later.

NJPW: Kazuchika Okada Is ‘Washed’

Not only is Kazuchika Okada the most brilliant professional wrestler on the planet today, but the former longest-reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion is a damn good method actor, too. Okada started the G1 Climax tournament on a losing streak, and it got to the point where he started acting like a washed-up, has-been. I mean, he couldn’t even give a little girl in the crowd a balloon properly!

Okada found his rhythm after his losing streak, posting back-to-back wins over Hangman Page and Togi Makabe to make up for some tough losses. But it was absolutely hilarious watching Okada acting downtrodden and lost, with his hair dyed red and his heart heavy. I mean, it was sad. But it was funny, mostly because you almost took for granted that the “Rainmaker” would rise from his slumber at some point. It turns out, all he needed was a little gentle persuasion from the “Hangman” himself.
