NJPW: Tetsuya Naito vs. Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega is an artist who is producing some of his finest work in 2018, and while some fans can get carried away with their praise for him, there’s no doubting that he’s one of the most creative wrestlers of our generation. A brilliant athlete, Omega produced more magic with Tetsuya Naito at the G1, as this was yet another five-star effort from these two big stars.

The counters in this match were absolutely fantastic, and I’m impressed with how these two were able to follow-up last year’s G1 finals rematch with a completely different story. Naito has become one of my favorite wrestlers in the world over the past two years, and I’m obviously not alone in that. This match was one more classic under his belt.

IMPACT: Brian Cage vs. Matt Sydal

There were a couple of scary moments in this match, including Matt Sydal’s missed Shooting Star Press before the finish, but, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself here. This was one of several great matches at Impact Wrestling’s highly successful Slammiversary Pay Per View, and Brian Cage came away with the X Division Title after a frantic match.

Cage’s strength and athleticism were on full display against Sydal’s quickness, flexibility, and in-ring IQ. This was a revenge match for Cage, who will bring new excitement to Impact’s ultra-talented X Division. Under Cage’s guidance as champion, hopefully more wrestling fans become familiar with the top-notch wrestling that takes place in this division.
