IMPACT: Joe Hendry Makes His Presence Felt

When Joe Hendry countered Eli Drake’s “Gravy Train” finisher into a roll-up for a shocking victory, I absolutely marked out. Here was “local hero” Joe Hendry, picking up a win over a former Impact World Champion in his first match, planting a seed in the audience that he is indeed a future piece of the puzzle for Impact Wrestling.

Hendry is currently “involved” with Katarina Waters, who is supposed to be Grado’s on-screen girlfriend. It’s not explicitly said that Waters is cheating on Grado with his best friend Hendry, but, c’mon, read between the lines here. I mean, even Drake can tell what’s going on, and all the touching between Waters and Hendry surely means something.

There’s no doubt that Hendry is turning on Grado with Waters by his side to show his true colors. This man is a future Impact World Champion, mark my words. He is the Prestigious One.

IMPACT: Tommy Dreamer Shows Eddie Edwards Respect

“Well guess what motherf**ker? Now I have an obsession with you.”

Those words from Tommy Dreamer in the hype package for his match against Eddie Edwards at Slammiversary were among the most powerful words in pro wrestling this month. But what may have been more powerful was the gesture Dreamer gave to Edwards after the latter defeated him in a House of Hardcore match with the “Boston Knee Party” shining wizard finisher.

After the match, Edwards grabbed a kendo stick and appeared ready to beat Dreamer into a pulp once again. Except this time, Edwards started breaking down and crying. For the first time in months, since Sami Callihan hit him in the head with a baseball bat, Edwards seemed like an actual human being.

Dreamer accepted Edwards’s repentance, as the two shook hands. And Dreamer handed the kendo stick over to Edwards as a sign of respect, almost passing the “hardcore” torch on to a man who was previously Impact’s most under-appreciated performer. Edwards must still win over Alisha again, but he’s already earned the respect of one of wrestling’s most hardcore legends.
