2) Tommaso Ciampa vs. Aleister Black (NXT, July 25)

This might’ve topped this list if it hadn’t been spoiled due to being pre-taped. Still, even knowing the result, it was an amazing match and yet another example of NXT’s impeccable storytelling. The straight up back and forth action between Tommaso and Aleister was a blast to watch, and the finish was flawlessly executed.

The match was great on its own, but the way it fits into the bigger picture is what makes it a true masterpiece. Ciampa is NXT Champion, Gargano has lost his mind, and Aleister is caught in the middle. It’s going to be so much fun to see where they go from here.

1) Mustafa Ali vs. Buddy Murphy (205 Live, July 3)

There are many reasons 205 Live has become must see: Cedric Alexander’s strong consistent title reign, Drake Maverick’s fresh, energetic way of running things, fun character work from Drew Gulak, Hideo Itami, Lio Rush, TJP, etc… However, no one should be given more credit for the show’s rise than Murphy or Ali.

The No DQ match the two had on July 3 might be the best non-NXT WWE match of the entire year. It was exciting, unbelievably innovative, and a perfect conclusion to one of the best feuds we’ve seen in 2018. Just so unique and entertaining. If you haven’t seen this match, you need to go out of your way to watch it.
