WWE SummerSlam 2018: The IC Title Match Should Be A Multi Man Match
By Dalton Quix
Right now, the Intercontinental Championship will be defended in a one on one match between Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins at WWE SummerSlam 2018, but that should change.
WWE SummerSlam 2018 is just two weeks away, which means that the match card is nearing completion. There are already eight matches scheduled for the event including Reigns vs. Lesnar, Styles vs. Joe, and Rousey vs. Bliss.
One match in particular that has caught my eye is Seth Rollins vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship. The reason this match stuck out to me is because it does not really make a whole lot of sense.
We saw Dolph beat Seth for the belt in a shock win on Raw. Then, the epic rematch was ruined by the interference of Drew McIntyre. So, the feud led to a blow off 30 minute Iron Man match at Extreme Rules, where Dolph was able to win in sudden death.

Now, after Seth lost not only that match, but also a match to get into the Universal Championship picture, he gets rewarded a rematch against Ziggler at SummerSlam? That just doesn’t make sense to me.
Also, we already saw these two go head to head in an Iron Man match at “B” PPV, so why would they just have a regular one on one match at arguably the second biggest show of the year? If they want to continue the feud, it should build to bigger matches with bigger stipulations rather than falling down back to a regular match.
Another thing is, as I mentioned before, there are already eight matches scheduled on the card with a couple more likely to come. Meanwhile, top guys on Raw like Finn Bálor, Constable Corbin, Elias, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and even Bobby Roode don’t have matches at SummerSlam.

So, to avoid a disappointing decline in the Rollins and Ziggler feud and to get as many stars on the card as possible, this Intercontinental Championship match should become a multiman match. The addition of Finn Bálor or Bobby Roode could tease the possibility of a heel turn, and the addition of Drew McIntyre could tease the inevitable end to his partnership with Ziggler.
Elias and Bobby Lashley are two guys on the rise right now, too, who may be facing each other at SummerSlam, but they could realistically find themselves in the Intercontinental Championship picture, as well. Oh, and this could help us avoid seeing another edition of Bálor vs. Corbin on a PPV.
Ziggler and Rollins have been on fire lately as they fight over the Intercontinental Championship, but it is now time to get some other contenders in the mix. So, at SummerSlam, Dolph should worry more about multiple threats stealing his title rather than stealing the show.
