IIconics Pick Up an Unlikely Victory, Thanks to Dissension Among Friends

One of the matches booked for this week’s WWE SmackDown is a tag team match, pitting Peyton Royce and Billie Kay against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. It may be the most simple prediction I’ve ever had to make, you know?

For all the things WWE does to change things up, there are still some stories or angles that will never ever ever go out of style. One of those? Two “friends” who end up wanting the same thing, and experience tension in their friendship over it, costing them other matches along the way.

We saw it on Raw not too long ago with Bayley and Sasha Banks, though at the moment they’ve gotten back on the same page. But the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber matches both featured a split between the two that grew, all because a championship became more important than the friendship.

With Charlotte returning and immediately getting added to the SmackDown Women’s Championship match that Becky worked so damn hard to earn, there’s bound to be tension there. Did you see Becky’s face at the end of last week’s show? She is decidedly not happy about this.

And that’s going to lead to trouble tonight against the IIconics. Peyton and Billie are always on the same page, so they’ll take advantage of any weakness in their opponents. It’s their MO, so they’re leaving tonight with a victory.
