Get Rowdy
Sending Ronda Rousey out to the ring solo to cut a promo is a bold move. It’s not Curtis Axel territory, but it’s not exactly the most sturdy ground, either.
But the subject of her spiel at the beginning was the passing of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart earlier in the day. Since it’s such a personal subject for Rousey, what with her friendship with Neidhart’s daughter Natalya, it kind of kept her grounded and on track. It’s weird, because you’d think delivering such an emotional promo would be tough. Instead, it focused her, and she got through it.
Rousey then goes on to hype the SummerSlam match with Alexa Bliss, and brings out Ember Moon to face Bliss. Man, everyone in the women’s division just rotates friends like it’s nothing, huh. The appearance of Ember is cut short by Alexa Bliss, accompanied to the ring by Poison Ivy — wait, I’m being told that’s Alicia Fox. Are they doing a DC Rouges gallery on Raw or something?
Alexa is mad that SummerSlam is being billed as a “foregone conclusion,” and she’s furious that Roman Reigns gets ejected from the building to avoid Brock Lesnar, but Rousey can stay to make Bliss’s life miserable. Thats… a fair point? What’s good for the gander is good for the goose, I guess.
So Constable Corbin told Alexa to hire some personal security, and it went over about as well as you would expect. Four burly male “security guards” were no match for the Baddest Woman on the Planet, and if this doesn’t lead to legit intergender wrestling in WWE I will be very upset. Give me Rousey vs. Cesaro, or something.
