Samoa Joe and Paige Promo

Paige knocks on Samoa Joe’s door, wondering why he was unwilling to address the WWE Universe in an in-ring promo. She’s worried that he will interrupt AJ Styles’s promo in the ring, ruining her main event at SummerSlam. The SmackDown Live GM wants Joe wants to be a professional, but Joe says that she wanted him to be unpredictable. So if he’s a professional, how can he be unpredictable? Joe says he’ll do whatever he damn well pleases whenever he wants to.

And kids, that’s another brilliant promo from the man himself.

Aiden English vs. Andrade “Cien “Almas

English’s song is about how he’s let down Rusev and Lana with his actions over the past several weeks, so what he wants to do is to fight for “Rusev Day” by defeating Andrade “Cien” Almas on WWE SmackDown tonight.

Early in the match, English tried to steal a win with a roll-up, but a surprised Almas kicked out at two before bullying English around with his pure strength. But English got an advantage with his quickness, getting a nearfall on Almas with a splash from the top rope.

Almas nailed English with the “Double Knees” and won the match with ease via a Hammerlock DDT. This loss means that English is in trouble, as he went down without so much as a whimper, failing to redeem himself against the dominant El Idolo.

Afterwards, Zelina Vega grabbed the mic and called Rusev Day a “useless holiday”. Vega called Lana “dead weight” dragging down her husband, which is, uh, well, something she’ll pay for. And it doesn’t take long for Rusev and Lana to come out.

Almas asks Rusev to come at him in the ring ahead of their match at SummerSlam, but Rusev takes the mic instead. He even hit them with a little pec dance, too.

Grade: C, English and Almas are good wrestlers, but this was a rather dry match. That said, I am absolutely excited for Sunday’s mixed tag match!
