8. Drew McIntyre (last week: 8)

7. Dolph Ziggler (last week: 7)

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre spent this week’s episode of WWE Raw treading water. Absolutely nothing they did outside of the final segment moved a storyline forward, but nothing moved anything backwards, either. They were just there, you know?

And even the final segment was less about Ziggler and McIntyre than it was about Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. McIntyre’s promo was great, Ziggler’s wasn’t bad, but it was really just filler. The only thing to take away from it, in my opinion, is that McIntyre understands that you seem like a bigger deal if your opponent is tough to beat.

I touched on this in the Raw review, but McIntyre spent a heck of a lot of time in his promo putting over Seth Rollins, saying the Kingslayer is a great competitor. But rather than whine about it, Drew mentioned how much harder he and Dolph had to work to beat Seth. Right away, you’ve got Rollins put over as a great talent (which should be obvious to anyone with eyeballs), and Ziggler and McIntyre seem more formidable for having beaten him.

It’s easy to say, “ha, of course we beat such an unworthy opponent like Seth Rollins, he’s not on our level!” But to say it was a struggle to beat him? Now it would be a struggle to beat Ziggler, or McIntyre, and no one should question their ability.
