Dean Ambrose Should Do Exactly What A Lunatic Does

Dean Ambrose made his return to the ring this past week. Here is how creative should book the Lunatic Fringe at SummerSlam.

Dean Ambrose made his surprise return to the ring this past week on WWE Raw. The Lunatic Fringe returned just in time for SummerSlam 2018 and now will be an integral part of the WWE during the build towards WrestleMania 35. Ambrose would be in Seth Rollins’s corner during his Inter Continental title match against Dolph Ziggler.

The Lunatic Fringe returned looking more jacked and intense than he ever was. Some fans could have been potentially taken off by his appearance. The rugged, short-haired Ambrose, with his bulkier frame and untamed intensity seemed like a rabid dog, waiting to prey on its victims. There was an intensity and animosity about Ambrose, even when he did the Shield fist pose, that was unlike anything we have seen from him in the past.

Many people project this to be a sign of things to come; a heel turn by the Lunatic at SummerSlam, that builds into a match between the former Shield Brothers. While that is obviously the most likely scenario, creative might choose to ignore it altogether.

Far too often, we have seen creative go with a happy-go-lucky approach towards building storylines. Ambrose can remain a good guy, and Rollins can fail to capture the IC title and the two can continue to tear the house down as a tag team, starting with some matches against Ziggler and McIntyre.

Nobody wants to see that honestly. There will be fans out there who would prefer to see Dean stay as a babyface, but as far as character progression and logical storytelling goes, Dean must turn on Seth. After all, it was Rollins albeit, accidentally, who injured Ambrose in the first place.

The Lunatic has supposedly forgiven the Architect for that honest mistake. Or has he? Ambrose should make Rollins feel like he has his back. Dean should help Rollins even the odds and even reclaim the IC title from Ziggler. But when all is said and done, and when the celebrations in the ring are over, he should just hit a Dirty Deeds on Rollins to mark an exclamation point. From there on, he should brutalize Rollins similar to what Triple H once did to Shawn Michaels.

Ambrose can return to Raw the following night and explain his actions in a typical Dean Ambrose promo that only he can cut. While the new IC champ recuperate and recovers from the brutal attach, Ambrose can build more momentum for himself by targeting a returning Jason Jordan or other fan favorites like Chad Gable.

Additionally, creative can also work this angle to create friction between Dolph and Drew, subsequently kicking off McIntyre’s renewed singles career with a feud against Ziggler. All this, because a Lunatic never forgets!
