The 10 Best Rivalries in WWE Summerslam History
4. Triple H vs The Rock
In many ways, Triple H and The Rock have been career rivals, and gradually moved up the card together. These two have been having beef against each other back when The Rock was merely Rocky Maivia, and Triple H was a Conneticut Blueblood still wet behind the ears.
Going into Summerslam 1998, Triple H and The Rock were leading their own enemy lines as the respective leaders of D-Generation X and the Nation of Domination. The factions had been feuding for quite some time, and it had finally come to a head at the Biggest Party of the Summer. On this night, The Rock put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Triple H in a Ladder match.
Although Triple H would win the title, this would not mark the last time this would not signal the end of their rivalry. Fast forward to two years later, and both men are the top stars on the main event scene. The Game had pinned The Rock to retain his WWE Championship in a Fatal Four Way at WrestleMania 2000. They would trade the title back and forth for the next coming months, and when it came time for SummerSlam, a Triple Threat match had ensued.
This time, The Rock was defending the title, and Kurt Angle was in the mix. Despite the addition of a third wheel, Trips and Rocky were quick to lay the smackdown on each other. Rock pinned Triple H to retained, and still, their rivalry raged on.
