3 Biggest Storylines Heading Into WWE SummerSlam 2018

1. Can Roman Reigns Finally Overcome The Brock Lesnar Roadblock?

For a superstar that everyone has claimed to be the next John Cena, Roman Reigns surely hasn’t had smooth sailing so far in becoming the new face of the WWE.  The Big Dog has had plenty of success in the past, but it seems like his failures are what fans think about the most.

His on-screen character has had major issues with Brock Lesnar over the past few months in his quest to capture the Universal Championship.  Reigns failed to get the job done at WrestleMania 34 and didn’t have much more luck at the Greatest Royal Rumble, although the finish of the match was in question to a degree.

But at SummerSlam this Sunday, The Big Dog will get yet another shot at The Beast Incarnate and his Universal Championship.  Reigns has taken offense to Lesnar’s lack of passion and effort in being the Universal Champion and a WWE superstar in general, but the bigger storyline regarding this match has to do with Reigns overcoming his demons.

Much like what Lesnar had to do against Goldberg at WrestleMania 33, Reigns has to do the same thing against Lesnar at SummerSlam.  After coming up short in two previous attempts, The Big Dog has to overcome the Lesnar roadblock that has kept him from gaining the Universal Championship.  But with Lesnar’s WWE future still up in the air, who knows how things will play out Sunday.

If Reigns can’t defeat Lesnar yet again at WWE SummerSlam 2018, that could set his character back to a place that he can’t get out of for a while.
