Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss has already been made official for WWE Evolution. As the card begins to take shape, rumors are going around of a possible opponent for Ronda Rousey in the show’s main event.

There is still a little over two months before the first ever all women’s WWE pay per view, Evolution. Fans are curious to see what matches make the final card. More importantly, there is a keen interest in what closes the historic show. Per Ringside News, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscription requires) reports there are talks of Nikki Bella vs Ronda Rousey headlining Evolution.

Rousey and Nikki are two of the most mainstream famous women in the WWE. As such, they are both worthy and sensible for this spot on the historic card.

The WWE Universe has not seen Nikki Bella in the ring since the Royal Rumble. Although injuries have forced her to become a part timer, she still remains one of the most decorated women on the roster. There is no doubt absence makes the heart grow fonder; fans miss Bella and would likely welcome her participation with open arms.

The leader of the Bella army made it to the final two of the Rumble back in January smack in the middle of a hiatus. She also holds the distinction of being the longest-reigning Divas Champion in WWE history. Due to being a part of hit shows like Total Bellas and Total Divas, Nikki Bella has one of the most strong fanbases of all time. As a result, she is destined to get an abundant of extra eyes on the product.

Ronda Rousey has proven that she can transition well into pro wrestling. Triple H and Kurt Angle have been in awe on how quickly she has picked up the business. Ironically, nobody has made the transition from another contact sport as seamlessly since Kurt Angle. Ronda is excelling as a renegade, badass, babyface. It really has a Stone Cold Steve Austin-esque feel to it.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet is an attraction all on her own. Her success in MMA, combined with her emerging presence in Hollywood, makes any match a big deal. Regardless of whether she holds onto the Raw Women’s Championship until Evolution or not, facing Nikki Bella would sell. The championship would be a nice added bonus.

The build can be one of the most intriguing parts about this feud. After showing up at ringside for Rousey’s SummerSlam match, the Bellas have a reason to show up. Brie Bella can always get involved in some type of capacity. It would only make sense that she feels obligated to back up her sister. Perhaps Ronda Rousey can break the fourth wall in a promo bringing up John Cena, or bring her good friend Shayna Baszler up from NXT. The options are there for WWE to play around with.

The great thing about Evolution is that it is going to break up the monotony of B level pay per views. Rather than get another average event between SummerSlam and Survivor Series, we’re getting something we have never seen before. Women past, present, and future mixing it up. And Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella represent two very different eras for women’s wrestling in WWE, which makes a match between the two something to pay attention to.
