Sami Zayn

Of course, this one would hav to happen next. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are, as mentioned during their incredible Ring of Honor feud, “destined to do this forever.” No matter what, they always have amazing matches, amazing storylines, and even if they don’t need to fight over titles, they’re always nice to add to a years long, maybe even decade-long feud like Zayn vs. Owens or Steen vs. Generico.

Zayn has never held a title on the main roster, singles or tag team, and despite fan outcry from all corners, he has never even sniffed one since being dropping his NXT Championship to Owens in 2015. Not a pretty defeat, mind you, as Owens brutalized Zayn so much that the referee had to stop the match and award Owens the title.

Zayn’s rematch ended much the same way, as Owens forced a no contest by once again brutalizing Zayn. So, how does Zayn overcome his best friend and worst enemy?

Since winning the Universal Championship, Kevin Owens has become unstoppable. He’s found his mean streak like he had in NXTand anyone who dares to challenge him goes down in one pop-up powerbomb. Of course, there are many more to come after the bell rings. Commentary has made a point to tell us that Owens has put many a wrestler on the shelf with the pop-up powerbomb, and Zayn could be next.

Naturally, Zayn kicks out of one powerbomb, then two, and the babyface resolve shown by the Underdog from the Underground makes him one of the most lovable good guys in the WWE. After a long, hard-fought match, and a flurry of Helluva Kicks to finally put Owens away, the now-healthy Sami Zayn conquers his demon, and takes the Universal Championship. Let this moment close one of the big four pay per views, and send the crowd home happy.
