2. Goldberg

Goldberg did not so much have a reign with the belt as much as he had a final hurrah.

After a surprisingly positive response to his equally surprisingly short return match against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, The Powers that Be decided that there was money in a third Brock vs Goldberg match. Especially with a World Championship on the line. So, at Fastlane, Goldberg defeated Kevin Owens in 22 seconds to become the new Universal Championship.

He held the title for about a month until he lost the title in his first defense against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. In between that, there is nothing of note worth mentioning that happened. In fact, there is not much we can even recall that went on in between the start of Goldberg’s reign, and the night he lost it. We’re sure that Goldberg had a couple promos on Raw that ended with “You’re NEXT!” or something like that, but other than that, nothing really happened.

Basically, Goldberg’s title run was kind of a dud and not much better than Balor. Although, Goldberg gets extra points in our book for at least holding the title long enough to get to one title defense. And we have to give him credit for losing the title in grandiose fashion on a big stage; the match itself was well received for the most part also.

But if we’re being honest, Goldberg had a worse reign than Brock did.
